Orange Cinnamon Oatmeal with Walnuts

As the colder months settle in, oatmeal is my go-to breakfast. This one is particularly cozy with orange zest, vanilla and cinnamon. Sweetened with dates and agave and mixed in with crunchy walnuts, it’s a delicious way to start your morning.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats

  • 1 3/4 cup milk of choice

  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp fresh orange zest

  • 1 large date pitted and chopped finely

  • 1 tsp agave

  • 1/4 cup roughly chopped walnuts


Directions:

  1. In a pot, pour your milk and stir in the cinnamon, vanilla, orange zest and chopped date. Stir often as it heats and starts to boil.

  2. Once the mixture is boiling, add in your oats and chopped walnuts. Stir and drizzle agave until the oats are cooked and have absorbed most of the liquid.

  3. Top with your choice of extra cinnamon, orange zest, orange slices, and/or agave. Enjoy!
